Anchors Previous Next
Title of Piece: Anchors
Artist: Unknown
Acquired: ca. 1970
Material(s): Iron, wood
Category: Artifact
Location: East University Walkway near C.C. Little - Dennison
Comments: These anchors were found at the bottom of Lake Michigan during research expeditions led by the Center for Great Lakes and Aquatic Sciences. They were salvaged and brought to campus, where they were placed near CGLAS's offices on North Campus. When CGLAS was relocated to Central Campus in 1999, the anchors were moved as well. Both were from 19th century sailing vessels, possibly "lumber hookers."
