Gift of Sigma Rho Tau, "In memory of Prof. Robert Brackett - National Director and Founder of Sigma Rho Tau." Brackett (’23AM) was an associate professor of English in the College of Engineering from 1922-1956. He gave much time and effort toward cultivating among engineering students an interest in the oral use of their language. Prof. Brackett founded Sigma Rho Tau, the engineering speech society, in 1929, which gave training and experience in public speaking to hundreds of engineering students. As national director of SRT, he helped establish chapters at numerous colleges. |
